The Leighton Library has a 1710 edition of "An exposition of the Creed" by theologian and scholar John Pearson (Lord Bishop of Chester) who died #OnThisDay 16 July 1686.

He was Master of Jesus College, Cambridge then Master of Trinity College, Cambridge and a fellow of the Royal Society.

He was a contemporary of Robert Leighton.

This work was based on sermons he delivered at St Clement's, Eastcheap, London. It was one of the most influential works on the Apostles' Creed in the Anglican Church.
