The Leighton Library has a 1620 edition of "Historia del Concilio tridentino" (History of the Councel of Trent) by Venetian historian, prelate, scientist & canon lawyer Paolo Sarpi who was born #OnThisDay 14 August 1552. This was his major work. He was a proponent of the separation of Church and state, and considered a hero of republicanism and free thought
