The Leighton Library this week hosted a visit by SPAB Scholars, seen here enjoying viewing the Leighton Library’s 1764 edition of "Ruins of the palace of the Emperor Diocletian at Spalatro in Dalmatia" by renowned Scottish architect, furniture and interior designer, Robert Adam. These Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings Scholars were accompanied by representatives from Historic Environment Scotland and the Leighton Library Conservation Architect Rosalind Taylor.

SPAB provides opportunities for a deep-dive into the knowledge and skills needed to work with traditional buildings for early career architects, surveyors and engineers, and post-graduate training for those with ambitions to shape the repairs and interventions to historic buildings, set specifications and oversee their implementation.

< Museums Galleries Scotland has awarded Leighton Library grant of ยฃ7,429 towards cost of redeveloping Undercroft to create new exhibition space
