A video recording is now available to view on the Leighton Library YouTube channel of the inaugural Leighton Library Geraldine Goddard Memorial Lecture, which was presented on Saturday 16 November 2024 in Dunblane Cathedral Hall by Alastair MacDonald, Leighton Library Executive Group member, Restoration Lead and Visits Co-ordinator. This hour-long presentation takes you through through reflections on the restoration, its reopening and some of favourites in the collection. This can now be viewed online on the Leighton Library YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/vY2nB-XoCNI

This lecture was the first of what the Leighton Library hopes will be an annual lecture, commemorating the kind bequest of Geraldine Goddard. With her generosity, the recent Leighton Library Restoration was able to be started. The fabric of the building had been in need of restoration for some time. As a result of Geraldine's bequest, and further grant funding from Historic and Environment Scotland and numerous other bodies and individuals, the restoration commenced some two years ago. This summer saw the Leighton Library reopen with record numbers of visitors this year.
