Dunblane's historic Leighton Library has a 1589 edition of "Astronomica veterum scripta" which draws on the work from many scholars over many centuries who studied astronomy and tried to make sense of our universe. This contains descriptions and illustrations of star and constellation names used to this day, which reflect the contributions of Arab and Persian astronomers who played a very important role in preserving and developing the astronomical knowledge they received from Ancient Greece. These conventions helped relate the stars and constellations as people tracked the apparent motion of the sky
