The issue of free speech in universities is often in the news. The Leighton Library has a 1608 edition of "Locorum communium" by German-Dutch theologian Conrad Vorstius who was born #OnThisDay 19 July 1569. He became controversial, and King James VI of Scotland and I of England, through his Dutch ambassador, had Vorstius expelled from the Low Countries and dismissed from his university post as the king found statements by him objectionable
