The Leighton Library has a 1606 edition of "Les vies des hommes illustres" by French Renaissance writer and translator Jacques Amyot who was born #OnThisDay 30 October 1513. This was described as a "vigorous and idiomatic version of Plutarch," which was translated into English, and supplied Shakespeare with materials for his Roman plays
