The Leighton Library has a 1776 edition of "Sylva: a discourse of forest-trees together with a historical account of the sacredness and use of standing groves" by English writer, gardener and diarist John Evelyn who was born #OnThisDay 31 October 1620. Evelyn's diaries, or memoirs, are largely contemporaneous with those of famed diarist Samuel Pepys but were not published until later
