The Leighton Library has a 1654 edition of "Letters to severall persons of honour" by eminent English poet and cleric John Donne, who died #OnThisDay 31 March 1631. This is a collection of his letters collected and published by his son, and which illustrate his relationship with his family and others. He was Dean of St Paul's Cathedral and a Member of Parliament. John Donne's poetic style is characterised by inventiveness of metaphor, abrupt openings, paradoxes, and ironies
