The Leighton Library has 1772-1773 editions of "Oeuvres de Monsieur de Voltaire," Voltaire being the nom de plume of French Enlightenment author, historian, and philosopher François-Marie Arouet, who died #OnThisDay 30 May 1778. He was one of the first authors to become renowned and commercially successful internationally, producing works in almost every literary form, including plays, poems, novels, essays, histories, and scientific expositions. He was prolific, writing more than 20,000 letters and 2,000 books and pamphlets!
