The Leighton Library has a 1810 first edition of epic narrative poem "The Lady of the Lake" (which helped make the Trossachs a top tourist destination) by the celebrated Scottish historical novelist, playwright and poet Sir Walter Scott who was born #OnThisDay 15 August 1771.

The Leighton Library also has a 1830 edition of his "A description of the regalia of Scotland" about the Honours of Scotland, including crown, sword of state and sceptre (the earliest surviving Crown Jewels in Europe) which he had been instrumental in bringing back to public gaze in 1818 after being hidden a century before following union of parliaments
