#OnThisDay 10 July 1509 John Calvin, influential French theologian during the Protestant Reformation, and after whom Calvanism was named, was born. The Leighton Library has several of his books including a badly wormed 1569 edition of his "Sermons de M. Iean Caluin sur le liure de Iob." published in Geneva.

Bugs and Books don't mix! To get rid of the bookworm the book was treated by taking to specialist deep freezers and being kept at a temperature of -30C for five days to kill off any bookworm!

< Leighton Library has 1801 edition of “A philosophical inquiry into the origin of our ideas on the sublime and beautiful” by Edmund Burke
