The Leighton Library has a 1616 edition of the Bible which includes influential French translations of the Psalms by French Renaissance poet Clément Marot, who died #OnThisDay 12 September 1544. It has been said that these translations did more than anything else to advance the cause of the Protestant Reformation in France, and Marot's translations of the Psalms continued to be sung for centuries by Protestant congregations
