The Leighton Library has a 1600 edition of "M. Manili Astronomicon a Iosepho Scaligero ex vetusto codice gemblacensi infinitis mendis repurgatum" by French-born Dutch philologist and historian Joseph Scaliger who was born #OnThisDay 5 August 1540. This was then the most scholarly edition of the views of astronomy (or rather astrology) by 1st Century AD poet and astrologer Marcus Manilius in which astrological systems of houses, linking lives of humans with the circuit of the zodiac, first made their appearance
