Did you know that the man known as the father of modern sociology, Scottish Enlightenment philosopher and historian, Adam Ferguson, was born #OnThisDay 20 June 1723? Dunblane’s historic Leighton Library has a 1768 edition of his most famous work “An essay on the history of civil society” as well as a 1792 edition of his “Principles of moral and political science; being chiefly a retrospect of lectures delivered in the College of Edinburgh”
