The Jacobite Battle of Sheriffmuir took place on the outskirts of Dunblane #OnThisDay 13 November 1715. The Leighton Library has a new learning resource now available from the Leighton Library website which provides learning activities to explore the lead up to the Battle of Sheriffmuir, the battle itself, and its aftermath, making use of noted and imagined accounts of characters involved in the Battle of Sheriffmuir. This resource makes reference to books in Dunblane’s historic Leighton Library ("The Battle of Sheriffmuir" by John E Shearer, published in 1898, and "Dunblane traditions; being a series of warlike and legendary narratives, biographical sketches of eccentric characters, &c" by John Monteith, published in 1887) as well as to artefacts from the Battle of Sheriffmuir held in Dunblane Museum next to the Leighton Library.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Devised by Leighton Library Volunteer Guides Graeme Young and Malcolm Wilson, this learning resource is part of resources being created by the Leighton Library education group: https://www.leightonlibrary.org.uk/1715-jacobite-rising-battle-of-sheriffmu
