The Leighton Library has 1810 first edition of the epic poem "The Lady of the Lake" by Scottish historical novelist, playwright, and poet Sir Walter Scott who died #OnThisDay 1832. This helped make The Trossachs a top tourist destination.

The library also has a 1830 edition of his "A description of the regalia of Scotland" about the Honours of Scotland, including crown, sword of state and sceptre (the earliest surviving Crown Jewels in Europe) which he had been instrumental in bringing back to public gaze in 1818 after being hidden a century before following union of parliaments
