#OnThisDay 12 June 1647 leading classical scholar & outstanding educator of his time Thomas Farnaby died. His works chiefly consisted of annotated editions of Latin authors, and textbooks on rhetoric and Latin grammar, which enjoyed extraordinary popularity. Dunblane's historic Leighton Library has a 1618 edition of his "M. Annaei Lucani Pharsalia, sive De bello civili Cæsaris et Pompeji lib X"
