The Leighton Library has a 1813 edition of "An authentic narrative of some remarkable and interesting particulars in the life of John Newton" - the autobiography of John Newton, born #OnThisDay 24 July 1725. This was originally published anonymously under the signatures of Omicron and Vigil in 1764 with a Preface by Haweis. He wrote the hymn "Amazing Grace" having been a captain of slave ships who later became a prominent abolitionist
