#OnThisDay 24 March 1809 Reverend Mr Patrick Murray, a borrower at Leighton Library, borrowed Dunblane's historic Leighton Library's 1764 edition of "Ruins of the palace of the Emperor Diocletian at Spalatro in Dalmatia" by renowned Scottish architect, furniture and interior designer, Robert Adam. Regarded as one of Europe's great architects he was inspired by the classical ruins he had studied whilst on a tour of France and Italy.

Reverend Mr Patrick Murray was Minister of Kilmadock from 1791 to 1838. He'd paid a subscription to the Leighton Library in 1792 of 10 shillings and sixpence
